I'm at same timeline and my legs don't look good from any point. Not sure if you're saying you have muscle from the knee up to midpoint or from the hip down. My muscle tone is gone the whole length. The knee area looks like it has muscle but is only swollen. The upper leg has other muscles giving some bulk to the atrophied Quad.
I would say you're normal and the leg extensions prove it. I'm doing a lot of mini wall squats, up stairs, and stationary bike. I don't bear weight at bends greater than 70 degrees. Good luck on DR visit. Hope you get more than 5 minutes of his time.
I just started to do some quad strengthening at my 2nd PT visit last week. What I was saying is that when I look down the leg when I do the quad tense exercise with the towel below my knee that the only thing the looks like a muscle stops about 4" before it hits the knee and after that it's just flat like no muscle even exists. I'm fortunate that my OS is a childhood friend of mine so having my appointment is like hanging out with a friend for 10-15 minutes. He has always told me that rehabbing this injury is a marathon and not a sprint so he is very conservative and would not let me begin PT until after 8 weeks Post Op.
