Hello Everybody! I haven't posted in a while, but thought I would check in to see how everyone is doing. Red Nighthawk, I feel badly for you that your recovery isn't going as well as you hoped. I can only imagine how frustrating this has to be. Hopefully they will find some answers for you because it seems there has to be something else going on.
I am 5 months post op, and recovery is slow but steady. My bend is where they want it to be, but my quad strength is lacking, which although normal, it's a little frustrating. My family and I went to St. Louis recently, and I was able to walk the zoo and do some other sight-seeing stuff without many problems. My leg buckled a few times from being weak, and I took more breaks at the zoo than I normally would have, but I was just happy that my kids could finally have their mama back participating in family activities.
My main struggle through all of this has been intense hip and IT-band pain in my injured leg. The OS and PT say this is from over-compensation, using these muscles and areas more than normal, but I must be SUPER-over-compensating, because that is where all of my pain is, especially in the evenings when I finally sit down.
I have heard many say this, and I agree...I am so much more thankful for everything since this injury occurred. I am 43, mother to a 7 and 5 year old, and I also take care of my father (he has MS), so my life was crazy busy and very active. This injury took me off guard and knocked me out of a normal life for a while. Now, in recovery, everything that I accomplish is such a big deal, and when I do something I did pre-injury I just feel thankful. Crazy how life has a way of slowing us down and changing perspective.
