Interesting parallels with me on how you fell.
I was walking down a spotty black ice road to parking lot steadying my wife when, as I was looking for my car, slipped forward, tried to recover as I went back & went down so quickly that did not pull wife down or even bruise my left side. Right leg must have gone under me or just failed as lay on the ground feeling that my knee cap had moved out of place.
Wife helped me to car into back seat then ER where 3 drs only diagnosed after X-ray only sprained knee. They suggested ortho visit which I did next day (Sat Feb 8). He easily diagnosed full QTR after only 1 failed leg lift & X-ray review.
Operation Feb 14 (V-day) after snow storm here in Pa..after 2 weeks into leg brace locked at 30 degrees for next 4 weeks--- no active PT until April 1.
After 9 weeks from this, with 3x week PT with manipulation, now at 125 ROM
1 month ago got all the way around on stationary bike--now 10 miles road bike working to 20.
Playing 18 holes of golf (right handed).
Lots of step exercises to get normal up/down stair motion.
PT eval says at 80% of normal leg strength so more to do ...increase leg press weights & going to single leg press reps this past week.
Also working at my gym with personal trainer to strengthen core as well as legs.
Ice really does help after exercise & gives me something to look forward to!
Also single leg balance on hemispheric ball is great for strengthening & core balance.
Will return to skiing in Dec!!!!!!!
