Hi Frank2009- you may have chondromalacia patellae which is where the underside of patella becomes worn as it is not tracking properly in the groove, it may be that following quad tendon repair the tracking of the patella is slightly out because of the combination of muscle wasting and repair but this only became an issue with high frequency movement like running. Another possibility is that you have another minor quad tear or tendinosis- if this is the case the pain should be located in the top of the patella where it joins the quad tendon. I would take some regular non steroidal anti-inflammatory's like Ibuprofen and use ice if required. Can you keep the forum up to date with what your orthopod says as its really useful to share this information and advice on rehab. Good Luck.
I'd say that's a pretty good diagnosis and good advice on the treatment. I'd still try to get in to see the OS prior to two weeks.
