BQTR post op 7 weeks
I have not had time to read all the new posts prior to updating but will get to them. I wanted to give an update for those following around the same time period as myself on their therapy. As far as braces, I wear them but unlocked when I leave the house. At home, I ditch the braces. Yesterday at therapy, I achieved 133 degrees left leg and 130 on the right. I go to the gym 5 days a week and therapy 2 days. I mostly only get the manual manipulation at therapy and due the exercises on my own in the gym. Two days ago, I felt like I was getting somewhere with my legs. I did 30 minutes on a recumbent bike at level 10, 45 degree inverted leg press with 150lbs 20 reps/5 sets, adductor/abductor machine 12 reps/3 sets and lying leg curls with 55 lbs. I also have been doing what my PT calls "pawing". This consists on standing on the treadmill with one leg on the base and the other is walks....heel toe on whatever speed feels comfortable. You are supported by your hands on inactive foot so you control how much weight you put on the active foot. This really helps me due to the fact my weakest link is my VMO which seems to be lagging behind. This exercise makes me concentrate on full extension while weight is being placed on the leg....which is where I feel the most vulnerable now. Other note, I have been driving for 2 weeks now......in the gym, I wear the braces of course, but unlocked.
Hope you find this helpful. Good luck to all!
