This is the closest we have to a spam meter.

Yeah, you always wonder about "one post wonders" who show up and immediately start endorsing things.

It's a bit of a SPAM fail too..... couldn't even properly format the link!

I apologize. I did not mean to come across as SPAMmy. The whole conversation in this stream is about abuse of Proforms and www.ProformSkiing.com sells ski wax and tools for less than retail. I was interested in the forum's feedback as to whether you thought the use of the name was 'abuse'.

If it was spam, I would have formatted the link properly. But I wasn't worried about that. Since you guys want me to do so, here ya go. LoL

I would still like your feedback and thoughts.

As the husband of someone who was a ski professional and got discounts on skis (Fischer, Atomic), and clothes (Cloudveil, Columbia), and other stuff (Volkl bags, etc), I like getting stuff for cheaper. Proform Skiing seems to do that for me  (and cheaper than others...which I like).

You bumped a 10 year old thread.  At least make the effort of starting your own, winner.  rolleyes.gif

...and there isn't crap on that site you can't get anywhere.  Not impressed in the least.  Bug off.

So you do or do not work for them?

It's pretty Mickey Mouse in execution, without regard to the pricing...

axebiker: LoL. I read the thread as 10 not 01. That's funny. So much for paying attention to details.

skimangojazz: Do I work for Proform Skiing? No. I don't know who works for them. All I know is that they have products cheaper than other places. And Erica won't use anything other than Dominator.

sibhusky: I agree. It would be nice if they had another way of paying for stuff other than Google Checkout.

Since I called it Spam and it doesn't sound that way anymore:

You get what you pay for.  The only way to offer pro form pricing to everyone is to not have any overhead expenses.  I believe the otthers count on regular sales to make up for pro form sales.

I did look at this site earlier this year when I did my bulk wax buy but their everday price was higher than the sale price I was getting at Artechski.com (15% off and free shipping).

So, though it is called Proform, it isn't quite as much of a discount of most Pro Forms (about 40% off).

"Proforms" in it's purest definition is Professional Forms, they are designed for people who use the product to conduct their job. Instructors and Patrollers used the gear to teach and patrol, that is an example of who proforms were set up for. Has there been abuse, yes there has.

Please tell me how you get it on sale. If Artechski can be cheaper, I want to know. I love a deal, but when I look, their prices are higher.

More like 30 years later, since this newb pulled a 10-year-old thread out of the grave.

Is that all that ski proform discounts are now? For the short time when I was working at a shop--back around the time of the original thread, ironically enough--they were like 20 percent below wholesale (somewhere in the 60 to 70 percent off retail range).

40 percent is kind of weak--you can do better than that at end-of-season deals. Granted you miss out on most of the season, but still.

I guess it depends on the company too. I do ProMotive and Outdoorprolink (more for general outdoor stuff than skiing specifically), and the former tends to be markedly better with 50 to 60 percent cuts, while the latter is around 30 to 40 percent, though specific amounts are set by the manufacturers.

Don't confuse pro form with employee form.  Low pay has it's benefits.
