What Brand Skis Predominate At Your Resort?

Thread Starter
I know this is kind of a recurring thread, thought I would start a new one.

I mostly ski Taos and I see a lot of Vokl, K2 ( many tele skiers have K2) and Salomon, especially the Pocket Rocket/1080 Gun series for pow days. The Vokl Gotama has a adherents among younger freeriders, as well as K2 Seth.

Stockli is well represented, as a shop here is the only New Mecico dealer of these fine Swiss skis.

One sees Rossis, but not as plentiful as in Utah or Tahoe.

What about your place?

I joke a lot about how Blossom owns the Skiarea Valchiavenna, but that's not really true. In Italy, I've always seen a lot more Volkls than I remember seeing in the States, and a lot fewer K2s, though that is changing. You see a lot of Stoeklis at my hill, which is just on the Swiss border. Fischer and Dynastar very popular among the racing crowd. Atomic seems to have died down a bit. Salomon is a solidly popular brand. Surprisingly few Nordicas, given that it's the only major Italian ski brand. Relatively few Rossignols as well. Head not really a big force either.

On the boot front, I'd guess Tecnica, Lange, Salomon, in that order.

Not so much resort as my local hill..... lots of club racers here mostly on Fischer RC4s or Rossi Radicals. Fair smattering of Atomic and Völkl, and a few on Blizzard.

Dynastar Legends are big among the wider skis, and the park rats are on TroubleMakers or PEs (or Troubled Youth/Fujy) unless Daddy bought them 4FRNT or Movement.

So there's no Kjus/Aamodt Dynastar hangover?

Not among the youngsters I see. Dynastar seem pretty anonymous in the groomer/racing segment here. Could have a lot to do with which shops are pushing what gear - with typically 25% club discount on racing skis & bindings everyone goes to the same few shops and picks up the same, admittedly excellent, deals.

But as I said - loads of TroubleMakers and Legends.

Hmmmmmmmm

I can't seem to find their logo on the internet, but the company calls themselves RENTAL

At the local mole hill I see a lot of Volkl, Atomic, and Salomon. I think every shop in the area carries Volkl now. K2 and Rossignol use to be very popular but seem to have fallen out of favor as of late.

see mostly Atomics , Volkl and Rossi in that order at my regional ski area in the Northern Adirondacks

Here in Western NY, at Peek'nPeak, we have mostly Head, Rossi, and Elan frontside skis. Eastern hardpack and machine groomed snow, we just don't need the wider freeride skis.

At the "tourist" resorts here in Colorado, the gamut runs to virtually everything. But you tend to see more K2's and Solomon's, possibly because they're big-time rental brands.

At the more "local" areas (Loveland, A-Basin), wider Volkls and Dynastars prevail, plus a lot of AT and Tele gear (Black Diamond, Karu, etc).

Atomic, my preferred brand, appears to have lost ground in recent years.
