uploading pictures?

On most message boards, I can upload pictures to be loaded directly into the post, but when I tried on Epic, it asked me for a URL. Do I have to host the picture outside of my hard drive, and if so, what should I use to do so? Thanks in advance!

For inline photos, I always host them off my own site then enclose the url inbetween [img] ... [/img] tags. Like this:

which gives:

Supporters can also add images as attachments (provided they fit within the limits noted in the attachment dialog) and have them display. This is a good option if you don't have a place to host files -- just upload directly from your hard drive:

what do you video photogs do? i've just bought a video camera, so get ready for lots of questions and, hopefully, lots of vids.

Only supporters and sponsors have access to "attach a picture" features and the space is limited because it takes a toll on the database processes.
Hosting on one of the free image sites is usually the best option

I have used photobucket and imageshack before, but I recall someone saying that the free hosting services were sometimes plagued with spyware

Hey, dawg (and prickly).

Have you looked through this thread?

http://forums.epicski.com/showthread.php?t=41472

It really gives lots of good info on how to do it. I use Photobucket and have been quite happy with it.

OTOH, I'm not smart enough about computers to know whether Photobucket has unleashed any spies on me.

I've got a Photobucket account, actually, my question on video is more specific. I need to figure out how to save videos I make off a DVD. The file format (VOB maybe?) is not recognized by Photobucket. I think you've got to convert the files to mpeg but I have no clue how to do it.
