That photo pretty much sums up what your day must have been like... Epic!

The REAL question is, was there brandy hidden in those trees. Tell me you didn't do your usual straight down the hill skiing but you made a few turns to pause and refresh at the watering holes.

Myself and four friends went on a trek to the tallest peak in the Rattlesnake mountains. We didn't end up ascending the peak to the huge couloir which was the prime objective. There were a bunch of ten foot wind drifts we'd have to cross to get up it, also the upper half of the couloir was utterly socked in. The line in the pic was what we skied instead. Being unaccustomed to skiing an AT rig, I was cautious, and sort of clumsy really. The snow wasn't fluff, but it was pretty good down lower where the wind storm of last week didn't pound it as hard.

Well it was cool going into the BC between storm cycles, but Snowbowl is getting hit by a pinapple express, and had picked up 7" at 6am, with heavy snowfall continuing and more to come later. :

I agreed to give my friend a ride, and now I'm sitting around waiting (impatiently) for her to show up. I want first chair dammit!

Damn wimmin. Always holding up the show.
Second chair could be just as good.

Yikes, looks steep! And, my experience with taking pictures of steeps is that they rarely look steep in the photo. So that must be REALLY steep!

She showed up right after I wrote that. I was on third chair (I hav=d to stop for gas too, my bad), but skied many an untracked line today.

Yes, it is really steep, however I've learned how to take pics so the steepness will be noticable, the line of the camera's sight must be parallel to the pitch of the slope, and it helps to have the camera close to level with the snow's surface, either by holding it low to the snow, or by taking it peeking over the edge, as was the case here.

Like this (I rarely take pics when out skiing, I usually either forget the camera home or forget to take pics and just ski)?

This is a very old pic (14 y.o.) and I think I've shown it many times, of course is not as steep as VA one, but the guide knew how to take picture of slopes to show the real steepness...

I'm sorry, were you saying something? I guess I was distracted by the woman in blue and her, um, assets.

When I posted the pic I knew that someone would have noticed the "B sides"!
Eheheh
She's now 38ish and mother to three children (and married to the guy next to her,) still cute, of course.
I'm the one with the backpack...
