I use a Black & Decker Workmate with a cedar 2x4 about 5 feet long clamped in the Workmate. I then clamp my 2-piece ski vise on each end of the 2x4. This setup works well and doesn't cost much.

Empressdiver, I was thinking of doing the same thing myself. Glad to hear it works.

I've even used the Workmate by itself. Clamp the heal and toe pieces with the built in vice. Works more or less ok.

Phil, if you cant find one used, the bench made by Pedro's for bike service, is exactly the same as the heavy duty units sold for skis. Goes for $150.

Or you can build one.

These StableMates with a 3/4" x 16" x 48" piece of plywood bolted to it works very well as a sturdy, portable & storable option. Great for other projects besides skis as well.

Yer not getting my pair.....

They're available nationally. I picked them up at the local building supply store. They're available online, but I'll bet the shipping will nip you. Here's Northern Tool's option. They come in 36" & 30" heights.

Phil, I bought this table for $99, when it was on sale from http://www.joessportinggoods.us

I like it a lot but it's even cheaper ($79.93) at REI! http://www.rei.com/online/store/Prod...:referralID=NA
