St-Anton - Mid March

Thread Starter
Any idea on the snow conditions usually found in St-Anton in late March? I've heard to go to Austria in January or February for great conditions but I am still considering late March (March 17th till 29th). Any chances for powder or slush will be inevitable?

I am planning this trip with my girlfriend as a Honeymoon and were looking for great skiing and a a little bit of visiting at the same time.

I've been visiting Chamonix for the last 2 years, once in January and once in February and we absolutely loved the authenticity of the area. Any chances we find that kinda feeling in St-Anton?

Any recommandations? Lodging? Back country?

TNKS for your feedback.

St. Anton is an entirely different resort with different but good vibe. Cham is a classic mountaineering heaven whereas the Arlberg is the better spot for skiers. Lots of international folks from all over the world there too.

If you go there to find a second Cham then leave it, elso go for the awesome skiing, the well interlinked lift system and the good apres ski at places like Mooserwirt, Picadilly ect. Backcountry is vast with lots of steeps but get a local guide - ofter VERY avy prone. The local ski school provides good service for any level, bonus is you share costs within a group matching your ability and it's more fun. For cheaper lodging consider staying at villages like Pettneu, Schnann and commuting to the resort, else contact the tourist office for what's available within your budget.

Skiing is great late March. It will be soft on the runs to the town but up high perfect

For Off-Piste/Back Country there are a few guides who can help
