We are off to Crianlarich (Scotland) next w/e (25..28 Jan) hoping to find some snow. Can anyone recommend any day tours in the area?

Hi, there is plenty to go at in that area, depending on the snow cover of course..! the bridge of orchy trio of munros, beinn an dothaidh, beinn achalladair, beinn a chreachain make an excellent tour, and the walk through the ancient caledonian forest (crannoch woods) is a nice start/finish to the day (or if your lucky you could ski through them!), the Ben Lawers circuit is a scottish classic and only 30 mins drive from crianlarich, start at the ben lawers tourist information place on the high glen lyon road. Get your hands on the SMC ski mountaineering guidebook which shouldnt be too difficult to source. y all accounts the snow base in scotland is impressive and consolidating with the freeze thaw cycles, typical Im in the french alps!!

good luck and enjoy

Brilliant information - thanks Rockhopper!

I shouldn't complain about being in the Alps - sounds good over there too.
