Smugg's and Stowe 1/26& 1/27 but where on 1/28?

Hey Bears, I'm headed to Smugg's and Stowe next weekend and I was wondering which day would be best to ski at eachone. Is Stowe more crowded on Saturdays then Smugg's is or is either of them worse on a Sunday? : I've never been to either one (or skied in VT for the matter) and would like advice on which day to hit them.

Also my real confusion is what to hit on Monday 1/28? We will be staying with a friend around Montpelier (I'm not sure where exactly as it is a friend of a friend from college) so anything south of there would be ideal. We will be headed home to Philly after skiing on 1/28. At this point I was thinking of either Sugarbush or MRG depending on the snow. Any ideas? Thanks!

Sunday is always slower at Stowe.

Hit Sugarbush or MRG on the way home.

Have you ever skied Mad River?

I haven't skied anywhere in VT. I've skied JH, Targhee, Utah (6 trips total), and most of Tahoe. Other then that I've skied throughout PA and NY and once at Wildcat.

How should I decide whether to ski MRG or 'Bush? Obvivously if conditions are great then I will hit MRG up. Will my GF be able to handle MRG if she can handle (timidly) the easier blacks at Alta? Also keep in mind she'll be skiing on a 74mm waist. Thanks!

I don't think anyone's gonna be needing anything bigger than 74mm this weekend. It'll be a little different than Alta though.

Change of plans. Looks like it will be Jay Peak on Saturday and Stowe (slight chance of Smugg's) on Sunday. Then we will hit Sugarbush on Monday.

I would hit smuggs on Sunday over Stowe for sure. Coming from Jay, it's ALOT closer (by almost an hour) and is cheaper, skiing is AWESOME. I've skied 'em all (Jay, Smuggs, Stowe) in DEEP powder days, and smuggs is amazing. great non-commercial old school vibe, really fun terrain off of both sterling and madonna mountains (epic backcountry lines off both mts. if you know where you're going). it's cheaper than stowe by a fair margin with a great variety of terrain and challenge in you want it (with roughly the same amount of snowfall). my favorite mountain in VT.

and you when you're their, you feel like you're in northern VT, not at a NY/NJ/CT southern VT resort (sometimes stowe gets this vibe on weekends).

Thanks for the head's up. I will be staying in Barre, VT and having to go north both days so I'm not sure that it will still be easier to get to. However I am considering Smugg's for the aforementioned reasons that you state. I guess I will base Sunday on the people we are staying with, they have a pass there (I think.)
