As you can see from the Canadian video, kids of all ages are being exposed to this drill. The CSCF believes that the pivot is a fundamental movement that must exist for the skier to be considered versatile. Let's not forget, they've "been there" too and have a wealth of knowldege and real world experience.

"Strong fundamentals" can exist in kids of all ages -- it just looks different for each age group. That's why the video shows how kids of different ages look when they do these drills.

I'll tell my kids not to do that movement sometimes too. It depends on the situation. "Don't pivot" is far from a global directive.
