Pictures of 2009 skis - Page 2

if it's too loud you're too old.

If you want classy and understated look at Kastle's line of skis, they are beautiful. Blizzard has some high performance piste oriented skis that are 'classic ski' graphics, Dynastar's line up is very clean... there is something for everybody.

I'd say wait until you see the skis in person before forming a judgment, some look better... some don't.

Well, I probably wouldn't hang them over the mantles, but I think that any pair of Icelantic skis would look lovely leaned against the wall next to the fireplace...

This also makes them scream 'steal me' like nothing else.

At least these skis don't appear to have the usual marketing rubbish written all over them:

Powerbridge
3D power channel MG
Aluminium motion rail
Doublegrip technology
etc.

They certainly all have the Ooh! Aahh! look at me and my brand spanking new boards utility factor covered. Awesome! Everyone run out and buy them, pre order them ASAP. What's the real difference on performance vs the 08 model?

:I'll be looking in Phils garage, and on eBay and Craigslist for your 07s and 08s selling at around 100 to 200 bucks this fall.:

NEW GRAPHICS ????????

Can you say F'UGLY (f_ck'n ugly)....Dynastar 'Legends' are not bad.

Hey: "Ski Graphics Designer's" (if any are viewing):

Put down the Crack pipe, turn off the Rap music, and stop do'n

'purple-micro-dot' (LSD)..... :

I would imagine with all the Computer Software Design programs out

there, the consumer deserves better then "Ghetto-Graphics"

or something that looks more appealing then a 'bucket-of-smashed-

ass-holes'. We seem to be going from bad to worse !!

Seriously though, If I like what the ski has to offer performance wise but hate the graphics, for the amount of money these gems demand, why not just buck up and pay some tatoo artist to paint them with custom graphics for you? I did notice some fringe companies let you choos from assorted graphics designs. That's something that would appeal to me greatly.

I just use a can of black krylon spray paint......fixes any graphic

I think dps skis look the best; nice and understated. If only I could afford a pair.

I agree that all these new skis look terrible.

Kastle Generic

Anybody remember when they had grocery warehouses that sold only generic products with black and white packaging? Cub Foods was one..

It's constantly said throughout all discussion-boards, so it might as well be quoted.

I quite like seeing the ski on occasion. Clear top sheets aren't bad.
Real wood is killer.
I still ride first generation, moldy-sidewalled Goats. I recently customized them with chrome flame decals from a Harley shop. (Harley has quite the following in Japan, btw.)

Rebelious graphics get old. Essentially, the stronger the graphic, the more irritable the viewing, imo.

It's like art class when you teacher says, "You shouldn't actually see any lines." If you haven't figured that one out yet, you probably haven't figured out any other elements of design.

Someday, when I'm uber-rich (because I"m already rich), I'm going to have a tuning shop in my house and line the ceiling and walls with unmounted skis. So, it should be said that even the worst graphics will have a place in that setting.

While on the subject of ski graphics, take a look at next years lineup from Kneissl:

White Star - FIS Race
Red Star - Race Carvers
Black Star - Sport Cross
Freeride
Touring

Really classy, even better than the Kästle skis if you ask me. I already have next years Black Star SM, and they are fantastic skis. They also look even better in real life. The lettering on some of the models look pink in the pictures, but they are actually red.

great to see kneissl getting back on the scene. i've got a pair of white star gs race's from a few years back which i am very happy with. since i bought them used i don't really know how much use they got from the previous owner - they are a bit too soft to be a full race stock ski, but stiff enough to be stable at high speeds for a semi-aggresive skier '(semi' means aggressive in the morning on hardpack, family skier in the afternoon) - the graphics are simple and elegant - in todays scene, i think in general racers tend to want a 'racey' graphic and free riders seem to want that baddass urban stuff .... i think the simple graphics of kneissl are a breath of fresh air in a general scene with too much screaming going on.

Yep - that's '09 stuff. Doesn't show the Grizzly, which I think looks absolutely stunning. I loved the way is skied too.
