Wrecked my 4X4. Want new ski's.

No I didn't wreck my car.

I have a 1 ski quiver. It's a Dynastar 4x4 Vertical 190 wich I am running for nine years now. I think I just ruined them. The shop told me so when they went in for a service and I agree. (Rail bent and cracked cap)

Im 6'56''!!!!! : (2 metres) and 242Lbs! : Yeah! I am an experiënced skiër, (14 days/year, started in 1981) 34 years old.

I'm an old style skiër. Knees locked together and long carving turns on above average speeds. Due to my size and weight i am looking at race carvers. I don't go off piste that much.

I just saw an advert for a Dynastar Speed Course Pro Comp 66 WC 187 with the '07 decals on them. The 66 is the '06 model though. They changed to the 64 in '07. The 192 and 215 versions are also offered with '06 decals. The tip/waist/tail sizes of the speed course comp are almost the same as my current 4X4 and I need a stiff ski due to my size. I can get hold of a pair of Dynastar/Look NX10 QMP's for a few bucks. (QMP=Quick Mounting Pad, rental version)

The Dynastar NX10 goes up to DIN10. My current Tyrolia Cyber 8's are on DIN9.

My questions. Will the NX10's fit the Autodrive Flex plate of the Dynastars? What are the advantages/disadvantages of the QMP version of this binding? (Rental version). Spec's tell me that the NX10's are suitable untill 90/100Kg weight. I am 110Kg. The DIN10 is enough though.

Is the NX10 worse than the Tyrolia Cyber8?

I think that the Speed course comp's that are offered are race stock. (Serial numbers). Any disadvantages on that?

Do these new ski's need their rails grinded before I ski on them?

Any other good tips? Testing is difficult. We do not have mountains were I live. (The Netherlands, West-Europe)

The Course Comp should suits you well. Very nice "free ski" if you stick to the groomers.
But, demo NXs on a race stock ski !? You don't want to do that... Add a few bucks and get yourself the real deal.
ie a proper Look "P" or "PX".

Check Ekosport, Ski-bilek on Ebay, or ConradSport, if you're on a budget.

Heheh. This ski is on Ekosport on ebay indeed.

Bindings are still quite exepensive though. The NXses are just 30 euro's. (I'm from Europe)

Yes, I see, that's why I suggested Ski-Bilek or Ekosport. Ekosport is legit, I've buy from them.
Upgrade the bindings, really. You'll get yourself a killer hard snow set up. The Course Comp is the real McCoy.

Edit : And you probably can't fix those demos on the Course plate anyway.

I've placed bids on non-race stock Speed Course Pro's '07 with the PX14 at Bilek. The seem to go around €380,-. The '06 66 race stock on EKOSPORT 'll go for 200. I want to keep my budget around €300,-. Shipment from France/Germany 'll be €25,-.

What about the bevel angles on this one. Any problems?

Edited for irrelevance.

I can get hold of a used pair of Look P9.0's for 35 Euro.

A pair of used Dynastar Speed 63's (174) are included but I can throw those away. :P

Example pic of those bindings.

Pivot 9.0's are DIN 4-14.

Good Idea?

Nice binding but these will not work on 2006 and newer skis. You need the PX series: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Look-Px-12-T...QQcmdZViewItem

Michael
Is that because of a different hole pattern? It comes with the Autodrive Flex Plate.

Yes, the pattern under the heal is now wider & longer. Ask the seller of the skis which bindings are required.

The seller told me:

"bonjour
look p12 ou P18 obligatoire sur ce modéle
pas de possiblité pour les tyrolia montage impossible
frais d'expédition 25 euros
cordialement fred ekosport
meilleurs voeux 2008!"

Wich means I need an old-style Look Pivot binding. Not the PX. Are the Look P9.0 mounting holes the same as the P12 or P18?

Remember this is the Speed course Comp 66 with the old FIA 21m radius.

Either a Pivot like your P9.0 (? didn't knew that name ?) or a turntable like the P18 or this P12 (both would be $$ with a course comp )

Anyone want a 2004 Dynastar Speed 63 178 for free? :

Here are some more pictures of the Look P9.0. It looks like the predecessor of the P18. (DIN14 wasn't possible on the P10)

No it's not. But those are a good design anyway.
Have them check by a shop, if the heel is still ok.

Just Got my Ski's from France.

Dynastar Speed Course Comp 66 187's. They are race stock. No cap, gold serial number and R>21 on it. The print on the ski is mat (no glance). No print on the sidewall.

I just mounted the Look Pivot P9.0 bindings. There are holes for the nose piece. The holes for the back piece are not ment for P-series (PX I guess). So the seller wasn't right. I also had another problem. I've got a size 45,5 Boot. 30.5 for you US guys. The pre drilled holes are not compatible for big feet. So I needed to drill new holes in the plate. I did a trick to drill the holes without drilling near the pre-drilled holes.

I removed the autodrive flex plates. Mounted the back one in front and the front one on the back. It's all okay now. I also put the the new ski back to back to my Dynastar 4X4's and noticed that the sidecut and the width is almost identical. The 4x4 is 4mm wider in the tip and 2mm smaller in the tail. Center is identical.

Can't wait to give them a ride but have to wait untill last week February. Perhaps I should have a go on an indoor piste overhere.

Anyone interested in pictures of the Look Pivot P9.0 on the Dynastar Speed Course Comp's racestock?
