Help please bent buckle 08 Doberman Pro 130 boots

These boots are 35 days old with 6 days on the mountain. I ask this, so that I can have reasonable expectations when I talk to the shop. Replacement boot? Return of the boot? Repair of the boot? Tough luck?

Hi the base on the 2'nd from the top buckle on my 08 Nordica Doberman Pro 130's is bending. It is attached with 2 rivets. Not the side wich is attached with screws. It seems like 1 of the rivets is loose thus allowing the plate to twist and pull up.

Has anyone had similar issues with Nordica boot? I do not want to bend the buckle back as that will not help the loose rivet.

Thanks very much, Denis.

If you go into the shop you will probably get a free repair since the boots are relatively new - unless of course it looks like the boots were damaged somehow.

One of the puzzling things about the Dobermann line is the buckles are riveted and should be screwed for easy replacement. Why this is the case I don't know. For such a high-end boot you would expect more.

Thanks for the quick reply. I believe that you are right. The shop and I will have to figure out whether the rivet was loose which allowed the buckle to twist under normal pressure, or I at some point tried to force the buckle closed at an odd angle.

It might also be a design flaw.

Agreed that one of these is probably the case, whichever way though it sounds like a warranty issue. Just take it back where you got it and they should do whatever it takes to solve the problem. A new boot should not have issues like this with so few days on the hill.

I called the shop. but chose to fix the boot myself instead of missing at least 2 to 3 days skiing.

The rivets are too small in diameter for the holes in the shell. They are not screw rivets, so can not be tightened. The slack allowed the buckle to move slightly side to side. This slight movement allowed the buckle to be bent. I replaced the rivet with a screw type wich is the correct diameter for the hole. I will be more careful latching the buckles, and replace more rivets when needed.

Nordica went cheap on the rivets. I certainly would not buy this boot again. I will look closely when I consider other Nordica products.

Thanks for replying to my thread. It helped me.

Denis
