Alta Jan 21-25

I'll be flying into SLC on Monday Jan 21, skiing at Alta Jan 22, 23, 24, and flying home on Friday Jan 25. Staying at Goldminer's Daughter. If anybody wants to meet up for a few runs, let me know. This is my first time at Alta -- I plan to do some exploring and conservative skiing on Tuesday as I figure out how my level 8-ish skills mesh with the various levels of terrain, and take it from there (if experience is any indication, I'll probably throw caution to the wind and be skiing like a psycho by lunchtime, but you never know). I'm hoping we get a serious powder day while I'm there -- I'm in a local powder deficit so far this season...

I'll say hello to you as you leave -- I am arriving late in the am on Friday the 25th! My friends and I have been staying at the GMD for years and we love it and Alta -- have a great time!

You know, I almost set up my flights so that I could ski on Friday then grab an 11:55 pm flight back home. Would have been a minimal price difference, but I wasn't sure how well I would deal with a 16 hour ski day followed by a few hours of airplane sleep and an early morning arrival back on the east coast. Especially since I probably would have killed the spare time in a bar somewhere! Ten years ago it would have been a no-brainer to ski the extra day, have a few beers, and take the red-eye home....

Still a no-brainer to me (and I'm 54): you have all weekend to recoup. We always ski the afternoon we arrive and the morning that we leave -- that's what I love about flying into SLC.

This is probably true -- on second thought, fly back Friday morning!
