Long(ish) Straight(ish) Wide(ish) ski for 5'7 150lb East Coast FreeSkier

I put up a post a month or so ago trying to decide between the Dynastar MR and LP for a longer, straighter ski than what I am on right now (Rossi Z9 162, Volkl P40 SL 170, Atomic Tweak 172, Karhu Jak Team 172,) for skiing bigger lines, more stability going straight at high speeds, easier landing off drops, etc. but now I am wondering if I should consider any others. I worry that the MR may have too much sidecut for what I'm looking for and the LP is wider than I need. (My Jak Teams are 100 under foot so I'm thinking more like high 80's.) I know I want something longer than what I have, maybe somewhere in the mid 180's? Any opinions? I've skied mojo 90's but they're kinda soft, haven't tried many other skis in this category...

36 views and no replies, someone must have some opinion about big-mountain skis for smaller skiers...?

Try a 186 IM88. That sounds like it might suit your needs.

Elan 888 another option w/ the IM88, a real nice ski for a lighter skier, the TR is over 20m too.

Thanks, I think my friendly local demo center carries both, I'll have to give 'em a shot. I looked up both skis and found all the info I needed on the 888, but can't seem to find the turn radius (or even a firm answer on dimentions) for the im 88 in a 186. All I can find is that it is 126/88/112 19.2 at 175. I know that I want something longer than that, does anyone know the numbers for the 186?

Head im103's in a 183? Sweet skis and they can be had cheap, but they are certainly for skiing faaaast.

I would recommend something in a 95-110 waist if it's going to be mostly used in soft snow and powder.

180cm Explosives are also certainly worth looking at.

I have some 180cm snow rangers to sell for cheap if you're interested, 80mm at the waist.

Im88 is 127/89/113 at 21.7m in the 186. Mounted with rossi freeride 180's, it's my all around east coast (killington) ski. I would say it has too must sidecut sometimes though, and not really what you're looking for.

I'm 6'1 and 180 lb.

Oh yeah...I also have some 171cm Stockli Stormrider DP's I'm looking to get rid of...91mm waist, not much sidecut, stiff, heavy and stable as hell.

JayPowHound, since I am only a little further north from you. Could you tell me where you demo skis? I will be trying to demo some skis this season. Not sure where a good option would be.

The mountain (Jay Peak) has a well-stocked demo cener right at the base of the Flyer (Quad on Tramside) that carries, among others, Head, Stockli, Salomon, Rossi, and Line (i think...?) If they dont have what you want, try talking to Donny down at First Trax in Montgomery.
