Nordica Hot Rod Top Fuel size?

Hi..

Im concidering buying Nordicas Hot Rod Top Fuel. But im in a huge dilemma, I don't know what size I should buy. 170 or 178 cm.

Here are my stats:
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 165 lbs.

I've been skiing for aprox. 15 weeks, and I feel im an advanced skier. I prefer medium turns at medium/high speed. I also like to go off-piste, however never more than 7 inches of fresh powder, so i do not need the biggest sidecut.

I've always used rented skis in 170-174 cm, which I found as a great lenght.

Looking forward to recieve some help..

Holiday is around the same size as you, and skis the 170cm Jet Fuel. I bet you would be the same length, at least in Nordica. If you were considering a different ski (like the Elan Mag 12) you would go with a 176cm, but the Nordicas tend to ski pretty well on the shorter side. But, if you are advanced, not expert, I would check out the Nitrous, not the Top Fuel. I am 10lbs lighter than you, and much preferred the Nitrous to the Top Fuel.

Fully agree with this statement - Nitrous should bring you more fun as advanced skier - Top Fuel is very stiff and brings most fun if you're an expert so keep practicing :

Have fun,

I ski them in a 178, but I am much bigger than you. It depends on what you are used to. I always skied a stiff GS and have no problem flexing these. The Nitrous is a little softer. 170 seems the length.

170... I use the 170 Jet Fuel and love it.

Go with the 170s. The 178 is probably too much ski. Not quite sure what you ment here "however never more than 7 inches of fresh powder, so i do not need the biggest sidecut" You are probably meaning ski width and not sidecut. Most people prefer less "sidecut" in a powder ski and more width.

I am really thankful for all your replies.. And UTpowder, your right - ski width.. Well, I’ve made a decision, and go with the hot rod nitrous (06/07 season). However the size was not an easy decision. After talking to several of (Danish) experts, who said that the 178 would be better, I was very confused. But there are no mountains in Denmark, so I stick with your guys’ opinion. My first reason is the 170 ease on the piste, which is the place I prefer to be. And my second reason is my dimensions - tall and low weight.
I’ve hope I made a good choice..? The price is only about 425 USD, which include bindings.
