Warren Miller......Cold Fusion

Any Idea when Cold Fusion will hit the Video stores. Due to lack of funding they cut the tour short up here in Canada. Nothing better than a new Miller flick to get you throught the heat of the summer.

There are a lot better movies than that - try Ski Movie 2 or Mind the Addiction.

Interesting - the Warren Miller website sells both of those movies. The prices are really high though. No mention of when Cold Fusion is supposed to be released to video.

Llama, what is wrong with Warren Miller films? I think that there is nothing better that watching 1.5 hours of powder 8's, bogner one piece suits (that ones for you Rock) and gapers falling off chair lifts.
Not to mention people falling over in icy carparks and beautiful people lounging on sundecks...oh, and people skiing across ponds.
oh yeah, skiing across ponds is a classic, love those bits.

The gapers and chairlift scenes - that NEVER gets old. :

The only thing they have going for them these days is somewhat of a plot line - they don't jump from scene to scene like the new school ski porn tends to. Too bad it's the same plot line every year.

Plot in a ski movie has about as much use as it does in a porn film.

Best opening sequence is the opening of Freerider...the building tempo, anticipation and then....J.P. bailing big time. I've had the neighbors banging on the walls more then once because of this opening. My wife doesn't ski, but I can hear her finishing off one of Warren's one liners from the other room......"If you don't do it this year........" ALL TOGETHER NOW

saw this over the weekend and liked it much more than i've liked other miller productions. for one, warren is "turned down" a little; nothing against the guy - i would never question what he's done for skiing and ski films - just that his narrative style ain't my favorite.
i'll watch this again.
particularly enjoyed the look at eric pehota (and family).
coulda passed on the yellowstone club stuff.

more Pehota, from Outside Mag...

Anybody with the Starz Superpack on dish or cable tv can see Cold Fusion right now. Its on Starz, True Stories, and the Action Channel. Along with Warren Miller's Ride and Fifty, all are on all this month. I am huge Warren fan, but I got to admit that Ride and Fifty are not that good. CF does feature some excellent Alaska scenes along with some good Plake footage.

Yep. I've been catching all of them this month. Cold Fusion is the best of the three.

Gotta LOVE digital cable and it's 945 channels. Funny that, more often than not, there's STILL nothing good on.

Ullr - There's actually aquite a few folks from the VA area on this board.

In hte Mid-Atlantic area, with our three week long season, the best skiing I usually get is watching ski movies (heh, heh).

Freeriders is the best of the Warren Miller films. The tempo, soundtrack (Dave Matthews, Counting Crows, etc), and skiing are first-rate. Also, this has to be one of the late Crag Kelley's best flicks. It's a must see and yes, my wife can't stand it when I crank up the volume and watch this film over and over again even though thank Url, she is a skier.

Regarding Cold Fusion, my favorite scene in the movie has nothing to do with skiing: it's the base jumping scene somewhere in Europe where the guy throws himself off the mountain while Delerium, Silence, plays in the background. THAT SCENE ROCKS!!! It's worth the price of the movie. : : :

I just watched Cold Fusion yesterday, having taped it off TRU-W, which is one of our new channels. Whatever I did when I bought the new TV, I got a few hundred extra channels and somehow my cable bill is half what it used to be. I can't complain, and I'm not asking

Freeriders is also my favorite Miller flick, especially since it includes clips and the song "Alpental" (local hill) which always gets me 'jazzed' for any upcoming season.

I've seen a couple WM films since and have been disappointed in the same-ol' same.... I LOVE the old vintage WM films and sure would be cool to see them shown on ESPN Classic Sports.

I think I get TRU-W, do you know what time the next showing of cold fusion is on? Do they have a website?
Thx.

I'll take a look when I get home today, and I'll let you know. It seems to be on fairly regularly.

CF is on Starz on Aug 20 and airs twice, 9:30am and 5:30pm EDT. Reply on the 30th at 10:30am.

Hey, sorry I took so long to check on this, but Cold Fusion seems to have vanished from TRU-W for now. They are showing Fifty at 7pm Eastern tonight, and I see it showing up again during the next few days.
