It depends. Factors include which Thursday, where you're coming from, whether you'll want to get around by car after you get here, and how many of you there are.
If you're coming from the East, midnight will be 3am to you, and after gathering your gear, you'll be leaving the airport in the middle of the night. Not the circumstanced under which I'd want to drive unfamiliar terrain. Assuming you're coming from Vegas, that's not as much of an issue, although your level of familiarity with serious mountain driving remains.
You will need 4WD or AWD if there is snow in the forecast, because CalTrans is typically quite eager to impose chain controls on 2WD vehicles, but very reluctant to impose them on 4WD/AWD vehicles.
Options include the North Lake Tahoe Express
and the No Stress Express
Depending on where you're staying and who you've booked through, they may be able to arrange transportation as well.
