How many?

This should be fun.

I am sure that many of you have seen this before. Its Skiing Magazine's 100 things that you should do as a skier before you die, The Skier's List. I hit 49/100 this year, how about you?

hm, I've only done 28 of them. Being only 20 years old, I guess I've got some time....
Alright I've racked up 34 so far and there are a number I'll be adding to it this year.

Let's see....hopefully I've got another 50 years of skiing in me so I just might make it

LOL@ "danced in ski boots!" I've seen that done and I can say with certainty that I will not be adding that to my list.

I'm currently wearing my new Kneissl Rail softboots in the office. I daresay if I could dance worth a darn in shoes, I could probably do it in these :P

Isn't skiing kind of like dancing?
28 for me...pathetic, but I'm working on it...hmm...dancing in ski boots..I can personally recommend against it. It takes the consumption of vast quantities of beer, a few tequila shots, more beer and the celebration of an epic ski day with no prospects of waking up and skiing the next day. ok so its still a really bad idea

All I can list is 18, which lets me know I have lots to work on. Thankfully I'm young (23) and have plenty of time ahead of me.

I think I should get bonus points for cutting not one but two 1/4 mile long 450ft vertical private ski trails into my Dad's property over the summer. Once we get some snow I'll let you know how they turned out.

Ok, fine, gonna get my groove on!

Completes the cycle. But I will never get t0 100. Just some things I don't want to do.
Wow 48, more than I would have thought!

Unfortunately I have checked off a couple on that list which should not be goals, but if you ski enough...it'll happen! :

Cute! Those feet do look ski boot like....

One thing to keep in mind when dancing in ski boots: be REAL careful you don't step on your partner's feet - unless of course they've got boots on too then you've got to be careful you don't get your boots locked together (like braces when kissing).

34 so far. They don't allow livestock on the gondola at Big Sky so there's little chance for any of us Montanans to accomplish #41.
Sweet! Got me a score of 60! Way more than I would've thought. Heck I'm only 30 (Just turned on Dec. 11th. Played a lot of Poker!) so I guess I can keep working on it.

Later Puh-taters!

53 for me.

With a little luck and planning I will add "hike and ski a fourteener" some time soon.

Like Phil P says there are some I will never end up doing.

This was typed from the Sprint center atop Eagles Nest in Vail whilst arranging by phone and fax an Aspen Christmas booking with some London based clients. What a hoot. Epic Ski from atop the mountain.

Life is good.

42-down-58 to go!
I know a few of them will be added to the check list this year or next. Tuckermans ravine, ski half-pipe...without looking stupid, and try telemarking. I'll take care of a lot of them when i make it westward! Lots of time!!
Number 48 is a classic!
I have 31, and again like Phil, some I have no interest in
post #20 of 26
25 ish, probably more, but I can't remember - too much alcohol.
47 down 53 to go. I think the Forest Service is still looking for me for # 21. It is at Hyak and we hid the entrance.
44... and counting... since I am 22, that is an average of 2 per year... hmmm... seems I have plenty of time left. Plus making a little more money now will help that a LOT.

P.S. Send us snow!

It says more about age (or insanity) than anything else, but I've done 66 of them. I've never skied in the US east of the Mississippi, so that rules out quite a few. I'll be going to the Olympics this winter, so that should add one more.

Some remaining ones that I really want to do before I cash in:

# 62 Ski across a border. I've racked my brain and can't come up with one I've crossed.

# 66 Ski serious California corn. This spring perhaps. (I could go to Heavenly and ski CA/NV, thereby crossing a border?)

# 74 Tuckerman's. (I've done Little Tuckerman's in the Jackson Hole backcountry, but I don't suppose that counts.)

# 75 Southern Hemisphere. A serious failing on my part.

# 86 Haut Route. Possibly in 2004. (Another border opportunity.)

# 94 Arctic Circle. I *really* want to do this one.

# 95 Find and read "Ski Party". I hesitate to admit this, but I have no idea what "Ski Party" is. Can anyone help me out?

# 99 Ski area patch. The area where I sort of "grew up" skiing went out of business a long time ago

Most of the rest I'm not likely to ever do. That would only get me to a bit over 70%. That's close to a failing grade in most classes.
