Hey, Cirque.......is that a self portrait? Yikes.
Thanks for the well wishes, folks. I sure needed it for the trip to the hill! I kept thinking of all the Bears who would think I was a twink if I bailed.
I threw up at home before we left. Nerves, baby. I tossed about 4 more
times in the parking lot. (What a candyass I am!) While I was gearing up in the patrol shack I was shaking and my eyes were leaking this salty fluid.
Lemme tell ya.........fear just sucks.
Poor Jeff had to listen to this crap for about half an hour......me saying "I can't do this" over and over..... but then going from getting on my coat (I can't do this), to getting in the car and driving (I can't do this), to getting out of the car and picking up my ski bag (I can't do this), to walking into the patrol shack (I can't do this), to putting on my helmet, goggles, boots (ow), gloves, coat, and walking out the door (I can't do this). He needs an award.
I decided to do the Magic Carpet first. Little kiddie thing, can't fail on that with 3 year olds on it, right? That went well TWO times.
Then on to a real lift. Went down the green run........I lived. Went up again. Went down the blue......I lived. Went up and down a few more times and when the snow got deep and chopped up I said, "I can't do any more today." I LIVED.
I still have some fear, but I'm looking forward to the next time, not dreading the first time. I got my season pass, and I'm going to ski as much as I can before I have the hardware out (I'm pushing it out till March, I think).
I still have the headaches, although the chiro is helping, and I'm on some good drugs, which helps, but if I crash and burn now, at least I'm at home. Sorry, VA.
I did inventory of aches and pains:
ankle hurts from the screws being pressed in the boot
knee on the broken leg started to hurt the last 2 runs
headache (of course)
left foot in pain from the neuroma
stomach pain from the normal crap these days, and tossing
But as USUAL, put on the boots and click into bindings and
I FELT OK.
