I'll be at a PSIA event, so I should be pretty tired after the drive up (400 plus miles) and a couple of days skiing. It won't take much to satisfy me. Just looking for a nice place to stay, inexpensive, cable TV, two beds.

Then the stoweflake is not the place for you, I have stayed there and it is fairly nice, but it is not inexpensive, just go onto Stowe's website and pick around and see what is available and then go into price points. There are lower end motels and such available, I mean it is Vermont after all.
I'm typing this from our room at the Comfort Inn in Montpelier (free wireless!). $84 a night over a peak holiday period! The hotel is actually really nice, but a bit of a drive. I'd easily recommend it (about 40 minutes to Stowe each morning)...
We stayed at the Mountain Road Resort over X-Mas week. Pretty decent place and pretty reasonable. Really like a very nice motel. Was clean and a good continental breakfast was included. They have a pool, hottub and sauna too. Also each room has a little locking outdoor closet you can put your skis in.
Only complaint was a weird banging noise when heater kicked on at night but wasn't enough to keep me awake all night.
