Free Day at Sol Vista Worth It?

I have a 2007-2008 Colorado Gems Card which offers one free day of skiing at Sol Vista during the month of January except for the 19th-21st. I am going to be in Colorado skiing six days between December 31 and January 5th. A few of those days I will be my myself just driving up to the mountains from Denver to ski. I was thinking about going to Sol Vista to take advantage of the free day offer but I am not sure that I should bother since the place looks so small and is known as a beginners mountain for families. I am an expert skier and I was wondering if Sol Vista has enough to tide me over for one day of free skiing. I am someone who likes to check out new mountains and Sol Vista does have some blues and a few blacks but I don't want to be bored.

What are your experiences with Sol Vista as far as the terrain and skiing fun to be had and what do you recomend?

I'd use it for sure. In fact I will be using my free day there on Jan 5th or 6th.
(free night skiing there on the 5th if you're into that)

Don't know if I'd describe my self as an expert skier but I could pass as a solid intermediate and I think SolVista rocks for multiple reasons, although challenging terrain is not one of them.

The West Mountain has half a dozen or so challenging trails. Not a lot of vertical but what's there is decent.

And the place is just so darn uncrowded compared to anywhere, especially the West Mountain side.

I've been tempted to ski Sol Vista when it was free but haven't made it there yet.

How about this strategy: get to Sol Vista early, check the place out and if you're bored after an hour just drive back down to Winter Park/Mary Jane.

Have fun! If you do make it to SV, I'd enjoy seeing a trip report

I Only Ski green and Blues ,i used my free day on Jan 1 and had a ball.
My kids said its there favorite mountain so far.
You may be bored at your ability but I was impressed that my kids and myself had such a good time.
