I just got around to watching a recording of the Bormio downhill the other night. Italian TV had Alessandro Roberto, from the GS national team, doing commentary. He said something interesting about Bode. According to Roberto, Bode makes a lot of his famous mistakes because he gains so much more speed than anyone else and then has trouble "managing" it. In other words, the errors flow from just going godawful fast, not from any technical deficiency. Interesting point. Interesting, too, when you hear how much respect a fellow WC racer has for someone like Miller (he expressed, understandably, even more reverance for Herman Maier). How many times do we need to say this to the uninitiated? The man has won the World Cup overall. Wow.
