I replaced some Leki poles this year. I didn't even realize they were changing the strap attachment system. When they showed up, I was kind of surprised but figured "what the heck" -- especially after reading their marketing hype. I have about a week of experience with them & I can say with some confidence that the new system is a huge step backwards. Maybe it is fine if you are skiing sunny bluebird 25 degree days. But in variable temps & snow, these things are hopeless. Especially so if you get any snow/slush/ice on them. Hard to engage. And a 50/50 bet whether or not they will disengage without a serious pounding & yanking session. A real PITA in lift lines or if you've taken a fall in really deep snow & need to get them off. Love the poles themselves, but I suggest people avoid the new loop/clip attachment like the plague that it is. The old system, despite some quirks, was easily 10 times more reliable. You've been warned...
