Moving Buckle on Salomon X-Wave 8

The Salomon XWaves allow one to move the buckle location on the upper foot buckle. By moving the buckle mount toward the heel of the boot, the foot is supposed to be held more securely in the heel pocket.
I tried this recently with my three season old X-Wave 8s and had a very difficult time carving after moving the buckle location. When I looked more closely, I noticed that the lower calf buckle was contacting the upper foot buckle which prevented the boot from flexing - resulting in my having more difficulty turning. (I am not sure if I am using the correct terms, but basically the two middle buckles were contacting each other.)
The boots are size 27/27.5 and I was wondering if this is a common problem or if I did something wrong.
Has anyone experienced this before?

usually not an issue, you might be flexing the boots a lot and that is causing the upper and lower shells to hit.

can you just move the buckel back to the forward possition?

Yes, I moved the buckle forward and they now flex fine. However, as I mentioned, with the buckle in the rear position, they do not flex at all. Seems like a design problem. Boots are 27/27.5 so they aren't small.

I agree it is a design problem, but one that is typical to many many boots. If you prefer flex in the forward buckle position and your heel feels solid I would just leave it there.
