This isn't a post to ask a question, but I just wanted to thank everyone here for posting about the value of a good boot fitting. I am fairly new to alpine skiing, so I didn't know much about the technical aspect of it. I bought a pair of boots and skis and just went out and started learning. I developed skills quickly, but plateaued. Recently after a knee injury, I read on here about orthotics to help align the knees, so I visited a good local boot fitter and had him look my setup over. Well, 3 hours later, I had a new pair of boots, with the shells custom ground and adjusted to my feet and legs, heat molded liners and custom arch supports to prevent my pronation!... My old boots were about 2 sizes too big, and were actually making the problems with my knees worse! The difference is astounding... I couldn't believe the improvement it made in my skiing. I went out and skied every black diamond on my home ski area without breaking a sweat. This is a statement to anyone out there that has never had their boots properly fitted- it's money well spent and will do wonders for your skiing!!!
