As gnjantzie says, they are both good mountains worth a ski. The basic Whitewater area is very small, but appearances can be deceptive. Much of the best skiing is off area, which is permissable, and involves skiing down below the base area to the entrance road, and then hitching back up. The locals are friendly and if you can hook up with someone to show you around you will find that the real Whitewater has quite a bit of excellent skiing.
Red Mt. has a couple of lifts to a peak that is skiable around 360 degrees. You can ski the trees until you hit a road and take it back to one of the lifts. Like WW, the runs don't look like much on the map, but you can ski all over the mountain. They are two of my favorite places to ski because they have good skiing and none of the b.s. of big resorts, although Red is striving to change that as quickly as possible.
