Snow at JH

Conditions are rapidly improving here in Jackson Hole. We have had great coverage on the upper mountian for quite a while. A lot of the early storms came in warm and the lower mountain has been hurting. It's snowing and blowing and stuff is filling in nicely. Here are some pics from yesterday during a steep & deep training I was taking.

Nice. It looked like that here an hour ago, then I had to post it on the interweb. Oh well, it's a long night. Snappy uniforms, especially the babe...

A trip report of a powder day showing a bunch of people standing around.

Seems about right for instructors.

Fixed it for you. Snowboard instructors would never be caught wasting powder.

Usually when I'm skiing on the clock I can't take pictures. Usually when I'm skiing powder I don't want to take pictures. It's ok though because I was there... and I guess you weren't.

You mean snowboard instructors never waste a chance to track out powder by side slipping through it right?

Yea, I have never taken a single picture on an in bounds day, so I get that.

I just can't pass up a chance to make fun of instructors.

That, and I'm grumpy because I'm too sick to ski and its snowing outside.

I would love to take better pics. My job is to teachothers or to improve myself. I can only get the camera out fast when I won't hold things up. The group actually moved a lot and the clinic was great! I went last on that pitch and we were giving a 2-3 turn lead between skiers. I was more interested in showing the windblown snow than getting a Powder mag cover shot.

Guys, I'm sorry. I was just teasing. I tried to use enough emoticons-guess I didn't use enough.

My own photography is horrible, when taking clinics time is precious and few of us have time to whip out a camera, I didn't take a single shot of powder the other weekend in Snowmass during epic powder conditions, and yes, we instructors are constantly reminded NOT to track up the fresh powder in the morning and to save it for the guests. Maggot, I'm sorry you are sick, and I'm glad everyone is having great clinics and enjoying great powder. Myself, I'm deep in the grip of studying for my Level 2 which involves humbling myself daily in order to learn new techniques and improve my riding. I have enormous respect for all who teach and achieve the higher levels of Cert.

The snow at JH looks wonderful. I've only been able to make it up there in the summer.

I hope everyone is having a great season.

I don't save the powder for the guests. I love to stand at the top of the powder run and ask the clients... "what's the best way to ski powder?" and while they are trying to answer, I say "first" and take off.

Actully I'm kidding about that. I do that to friends who think I'm about to give out some great advice. I might do it to a client later on in the lesson when we are comfortable with each other and some teaching time has elapsed.

I was in JH for the first time in a lot of years the 16th - 22nd. Great conditions and on Friday we had a rare "bluebird day." I'll be back soon
