Results from today's Super-G in Alta Badia:

Bode Miller, 2nd; Didier Cuche 1st, Marco Buechel 3rd, all within four one-hundredths of a second.

Guay 4th, Defago 5th

No Austrians in the top 6, but Raich was 7 and Maier 8, and Austrians took all but one of the spots from 7 through 14.

Also in the points: Scott Macartney (23) TJ Lanning (26) Marco Sullivan (27)

Steve Nyman DNF and Andrew Weibrecht (bib 54) finished 42nd.

Canadians Hudec, Kucera, and Osborne-Paradis were all in the points.

Bode Miller picks up 44 points on Raich for the overall title, and moves into fourth place with a speed event tomorrow. It'll be fun to see how that downhill comes out.

I wonder if Yuki is paying attention.

I wonder what kind of structure and wax they use for his gloves.

You got me to laugh out loud at that one.

As if just applying it to the bottom of the skis wasn't time consuming and expensive enough...

Yuki has a closet full of old Head race skis .....

Well, ok ... I down to 4 oldies since the great basement flood reduced some to rust ... but my Heads from the sixties, and early eighties are still around.

Yuki is a Stockli kind of guy ..... and ..... Stockli contracts with Head to make their lower line ... so they are kinda' like second cousins in some ways .... like the unspoken cousins in the clan that share a double-wide.

Look at Ambrossi Hoffman ... did well on Stockli .. went Atomic (I've never owned an Atomic) and then over to Head ...

No no no, its the HEAD skis (I should be getting paid for these endorsements).

No, no, no! You guys have it all wrong.

In order to ski like that you need to start drinking and smoking weed when you are about nine years old.

I'm reading Bode's book.

Wc

Darn Yuki and I thought it was the poles. So if I go out and drink pitchers of beer, smoke a little grass and buy some Heads I can ski like that. Oh boy! None of my coaches told me that, guess they were just keeping it for themselves. Yep sure they were, now that I think of it. GO Bode !!!
Hows the book, name of, might be a fun read ?:

I love to toss gas on the fire!

How are you so sure they are Head skis?

Sam .. aka ... Bode, was said to be a master at stealth and bait & switch.

Remember the rumors that his Dobermann's were Lange's painted black and his skis were re-skinned with top sheets?

:
That might very well be true, but HEAD seems to be willing to do whatever these new athletes want, even let Herman use Lange skis. That being said if Bode told them he wanted his skis made out of rice paper and fig leaves I think they would do it, so need to ski on anyone elses skis.

Didn't see the Super G, but saw the DH and GS. Comments:
Walchofer is on fire. I mean locked in and unable to make a bad turn
Bode is skiing very fast, but flailing around a bit. To me he looks better than last year, though
Cuche is too old or musclebound to be a factor on a tight GS course now
No one looked good in the first run at Alta Badia, not even Pallander
Ligety had an unreal second run. What is it with the Americans and the bib ceremony? He had to start 46th in the first run, probably cost him the race
Has else anyone noticed what a good skier Manfred Molegg has become?

Boy did he smoke that second run .. but he pulled a "Bode" ... and he knew the rules .... acting like he is now ... "if it was someone else" .... Ted, just suck it up, you shot yourself in the foot.

And ....

Where are zee Heads???? Fischer & Atomeek ... but no Head ... ???

Rigged! Someone put in a fix ... rigged I tell ya! :
