This thread is a hoot.
I don't give a **** about Taos, or other skier only hills, or lifts in general.
But it is interesting to see who is so vehemently opposed to snowboarding.
Good for you guys.
Have fun with that.
Coug, I like your spunk. But the easy version is, government is pro business. It isn't segregation based on something you can't choose. It's based on a silly recreational activity. There are many places you can't do certain things, which is part of a business model.
Who would want to snowboard with these jerks anyway?
Snowboarding was a subculture related to skateboarding. The intolerance in the beginning had a direct corelation to the rebellious culture of the sport. You folks are doing a great job of nurturing the rebellious roots of the sport, instead of cultivating a spirit of brotherhood that involves a love for something very similar to your recreational activity.
Why are boarders pricks? There are lots of examples of attitude to react to in this thread alone, not counting the gazillion other threads about 'why oh why do snowboarders do stuff'.
How about this, get off the blue groomers where all the beginners (ski and snowboard) are.
In general, those areas are a cluster**** of people who don't do this all the time and aren't as good at anything as you want them to be.
Here's a quote from alto at TGR that I think sums it up pretty well
Granted it's related to yet another, 'why do snowboarders sit in the middle of trails' thread that, yes, even happens at TGR
:. I know, I know, very gapetastic.

: You're the disrespectful ******* who thinks that because he goes fast on a groomed run he somehow has more right to it, somehow makes the rules of it, somehow judges those who aren't going fast from top to bottom. Shut the hell up. Maybe you should learn to ride your own sticks, learn how to look ahead, learn how not to be a stupid douche tart before you start reaming beginning skiers. YOU'RE AT A SKI RESORT ON A GROOMED RUN. YOU ARE NOT RAD.
Keep Taos, I don't care about it.
On the other hand, if you want to go for a tour around Tahoe, PM me, as far as I can tell, a 3 hour hike and powder puts most people on the same page.
