21 years old...

I'm 21 years old and just graduated from college with a degree in economics and french, but would like to put off the real world for a year or so and spend the winter at some ski resort so that I can get this ski bug out of my system. (hah, right!)

I would really appreciate any advice that ya'll might have about jobs and resorts that are ski bum friendly. Well, ski-work friendly I guess, since I'll need some sort of employment wherever I end up. My ski level is between intermediate and advanced, though I'd imagine that it'll improve pretty quickly over the course of the winter. Are there any jobs that are better than others? (entry level I would guess since I don't see how my degrees would really be at all pertinent to anything in the ski industry lol) It seems like it might be really tough to find a job at the major resorts.

I'm trying to look at all possibilities for places to go, though I was initially leaning more towards the west since the mountains really seem a lot more scenic out there. I have a car, so driving is not much of a problem. A nice town and social opportunities would definitely be a plus, though I'm not too picky as long as the skiing is good. I've done most of my skiing around Summit county and at Whistler and have really enjoyed it there. Still, I think it'd be fun to try out an entirely new place.

Thanks a bunch for any info.

If you were thinking about using your French, and maybe coming to Europe, I'd recommend checking out Natives. It is a web site for Brits who work at ski resorts. You'll get some good information on it.

Dude- I'm majoring in Econ too Only a freshman now though. Maybe you could use you econ degree to find a job- management or somthing like that. Unless you're just there to ski- which I suggest- then find a night job

Graduated UVM with a ECON degree and a minor in Business. I moved straight to Sugarbush and coached skiing for the winter. Never had soo much fun in all my life. Damn near cried when I accepted a real job. Waitsfield is a great "SMALL" town. The "bush" can be a fun place to work if the season is good and you have a cool boss. I spent most of my time free skiing while on the clock. If you need some help and are considering coming east shoot me a PM and I'll give you some names. Good luck
