I'm an intermediate skier (skied a long time, but only go once or twice a year) who wants to get an AT setup. I can get a very good deal on some K2 Mt. Bakers and am trying to decide between the 167 (shortest they make) and the 174 (middle length of the line). I'm 5'10 and 165 pounds. I live in Utah and will be skiing about 50/50 powder and other mixed conditions). I won't be using them at resorts. I know the 167 is short for my weight, but I'm looking to make things forgiving because I'm not an advanced skier. Am I hurting myself going as short as 167s? What would the drawbacks be going that short as opposed to getting the 174s. (One other thing I noticed is the K2 167s are almost as long as "172s" by other manufacturers, and the K2 174s are longer than other manufacturers' 174s). Any advice appreciated (especially if it has to do with this model ski). Thanks.
