I really just want to see some untouched powder and some challenges beyond what I see on the east coast. I'm an all-mountain skier/rider who skis 2-4 times a year at home (usually Snowshoe, WV).
So, where do I go?
I thought of another potential candidate not on your list, Brundage near McCall Idaho. It gets great powder, has quite a bit of intermediate terrain, and some good off trail steep expert powder runs. It's never crowded, cheap, and only about 2 hours from the Boise airport ( if the roads are good. That's the downside, the road up there isn't very good, ie windy 2 lane road for maybe 50 miles, then it opens up into the valley and is flat and straight the rest of the way. )
I plan on making a trip up there to ski this year.
