Our neighborhood has an annual yard sale event so I went shopping yesterday and came up with some cool stuff, as far as my collection, goes.
First I found the Atomic Heli Guide which is a 200cm, 80mm under foot, that matches the graphics of my Atomic Powder Plus, 165cm 110 under foot. Both have the AR3 monker.
The seller proudly pointed out that with the poweder cords attached to the ring on the heel piece you could simply pull the powder cord when you got stuck in a tree well and the ski would come off. The heel piece releases by pulling up, not pushing down. They also sport the diagonal release function common to Tyrolia. Great shape, quite skiable. The stickers were included, no extra charge ($5.00 total)
Then I found these poles (same seller). I'd never seen these.
No tips to the poles! The baskets are aluminum and are intended to 'dig in' to provide grip. These are in fabulous shape. $1 a stick, so $2 total.
Next I found these, in the bag, goggles by Salice. $1
They are flip up visors, but that picture didn't come out. Like new, but the elastic has lost its strength through time.
Some woodies with Millers. Anyone heard of Golden Holz? They have an plastic base in good shape, but are missing a small piece of edge. 170cm.
$5.00. Total ski collection purchases: $13.00.
To top it off I got a brand new DNA shell for $35.00 and a pair of Nordica Speed Machine 14 for $10.00 with surefoot liners. They are a size larger than I currently have and I haven't even tried them on. They are 10 mm longer in the sole. I'll have to try them on to see how the fit!
I figure minimally, 8 buckles for $10.00 when the shops best price was going to be $20.00 per buckle. I break buckles setting and moving B-net (imagine a 200 'fish' caught by the toe buckle) and skiing the trees (catching hidden stumps with the inside boot's buckles).
Now I still need those 5 buckle Noridca leather boots off eBay. I'm glad I sold some stuff at the yard sale, too.
I also found out that a neighbor was a pro mogul skier in the '80s and has 50 pair of skis in storage. He may let me take some photos. I'll keep you posted.
