Woohoooo. Just got back from Highlands. Unfortunately I didn't make it up until today. I'm sure Friday was off the hook, but the weather was PERFECT today. I hiked up the bowl once (it kicked my butt, gotta get in better shape ), here's a few pictures of the hike up and ride down. There were still a few stashes nice powder.
Sorry I forgot the camera today. Aztrees pictures do look acurate.
I pulled into Snowmass at 2:45 PM yesterday. After getting my pass and boots on there was time for just one run. Lloyd didn't lie. Waistdeep to kneedeep. Unbelieveable. Never seen that before. Just incredible. Made the drive worth it. Long day with getting up at 5:00 AM and finally winding up in Glenwood last night. Slept like a rock.
Got up late today and hit Snowmass again today. Just run after run of knee deep. The Burton guys left Winter Park yesterday after the demo day there and were at the Snowmass Mall today. I got to demo alot of their gear for free today. It all worked great in powder. Finally at 3:30 today my legs just were totally on fire so I had to call it a day. Sorry you guys are missing all of this.
Highlands bowl opened yesterday afternoon. Someone here at the hostel talked to patrol. They had to set off a 1,000 charges to get it open but they got it open. It must have sounded like a war zone up there when they were doing that. Interesting driving last night. The road to Snowmass turned to ice instantly yesterday evening. I've also have never seen a RFTA bus slide sideways down Hwy 82 before and block the highway. That will teach me to drive into Aspen.
I'm going to do a half day tomorrow but haven't decided where yet. Alot of terrain I still haven't covered in Snowmass. Probably sleep like a rock again tonite. Sorry for the rambling.
Oh, ssh, I signed up for the Copper Half-pipe 101 clinic on Friday.
