Keystone now pushing 1,700 acres open, with 80+ runs. Breck, and ABasin coming up, too. Looks good for my quick three-fer next week!

Hope some Bears are out enjoying the fresh!

Well.... It's obvious that a certain instructor (whose initials could be RW) didn't have a class today......

Aspen's the best it's ever been! About 24" on top of the 30" from last weekend!

It's DEEP!

I just got through blowing about 18" out of the driveway in Elk Run. Today 300+ acres tomorrow 1700. I'm guessing I can make a few tracks.

Obviously they are opening more terrain for the weekend...

December 9th - Holy Cow, the Breck looks good

Breckenridge was very good today. Chair 6 and the front bowl opened with tremendously good coverage. There was a limited opening on Saturday, and it looked good today. The snow was soft and deep. The lines were there, but only 6 chair had any real wait (10-15 minutes).

I posted some pictures and videos of today's fun.

happy skiing,

Keystone - Great Snow, Nice Terrain, Lousy Schlep.

We saw the 1700 + acres post for Keystone, and decided to go for it (Vail claimed 3200 acres, but it's a longer drive).

We weren't disappointed. The snow was perfect, the runs long, and the crowds moderate. Outback was least crowded, with great runs and fewer rocks.

I've only skied Keystone a few times - rumors of the crowds and spare snow kept us away. But, it has nice terrain. No killer steeps (a la Jackson Hole, Snowbird or Whistler), but plenty fun.

The only major downside: schlepping. Even when you take the shuttle, you don't get close to the lifts. There's still 200 hundred yards of trekking, loaded with gear, over two bridges to the Gondola. Perhaps Mountain House side is better.

Keystone's main page still saying 85 runs, with 1700 acres, but the snow report page reporting they have 2,400+ (77%) acres open now... AB, and Breck opening more runs regularly as well.

Looks like a Merry time out in Summit. I feel like a kid right now as I finish getting ready to fly! Fortunately, the diamox didn't cause me to wet the bed like a kid!

Cheers,
