Marker Motion iPT Bindings - Adjusting Length

I have a pair of 07 Volkl AC4's with Marker motion iPT bindings that I plan to loan to a friend this weekend. They are set for my boots - 336mm - and his are approx. 326mm. I have the Marker mounting/adjustment instructions which are straight foward. The bindings were originally installed by the dealer. When I went to change the length I first found the lock setting on the back of the heel mount was in the unlock position on both skis. My understanding is in the unlock position the binding assembly should be able to be moved towards the back of the ski then lifted off the ski. These bindings are solid on the ski and I had skied with the setting in the unlock position for all of last season. A trip back to the shop is planned to have them set up for my friends skis, but, can anyone tell me if my assumptions are correct - setting in locked position for skiing, unlocked to remove the bindings from the ski ?

Taking a closer look at the Maker instructions, the last step shown is putting in the screw in the front of the pistion assembly. Does this need to be removed to remove the binding to adjust the length setting ?

Thanks all - falcon_o aka Charlie

Your assumptions are right. "setting in locked position for skiing, unlocked to remove the bindings from the ski"

You are correct about the locking pin, however, because of this question, are we to assume you don't have the dial?(as shown in the picture?

That is correct. The "dial" was with Marker bindings which came with the 05-06 AC4's.

You will need to remove the screw from the piston arm in order to remove the binding, then readjust the toe distance on the band connecting it to the heel (sizes are marked) then re-install everything, set forward pressure and DIN.

THANKS for the feedback. From the Marker documentation, that was my assumption. As the friend who is trying these skis will most likely buy them, I will let a shop do the adjustments to insure all set properly. The earlier version with the lever/adjustment wheel, although heavier, was a no brainer to adjust.

Thanks again - falcon_o aka Charlie

PS - as previously posted, any Bears looking to share turns, I'll be at Kmart Saturday & Sunday
