I'm doing some boot works with my bootfitter. My hot rods needed some stretching and punching for both forefeet. The result is positive, while we still have some works to do. Ok, this question is not about the fitting. I noticed the buckles of my boots changed color after heated stretching. The silver sparkling metal buckles were partly painted by a layer of ugly pale grey coating. Anybody knows what happened to these buckles? Oxidation? or the bootfitter used some kind chemical liquid on the boots? Just curious.
