ski instructers salary? - Page 2

When I taught, I part-timed at a ski shop. That way, if I didn't get a lesson, I could still earn some $$ for the day tuning skis, helping with rentals, etc.

I knew there wasn't any money in ski instructing when I walked into a bar my second day on the job and saw the "director" of the ski school tending bar!!

People who live on ski instruction get very good at the "dirtbag" lifestyle. It doesn't cost much to travel if you spend a lot of time at your destination. You also don't eat out much or stay in hotels. In the past the American dollar went really far in foriegn economys. Its hard for me to travel like I want to because I have a mortgage and a wife with a 9-5 job. Part of the fredom comes from not having many material posessions.

The title to this thread makes me chuckle every time I read it. I don't know many ski instructors with a salary for ski instructing.
