There is no easy answer to where these questions are going. It varies region by region and area by area regarding the conditions of employment.
If you are considering becoming an instructor, the best advice I can offer you is to visit each area and sit down with the SSD and ask specific questions regarding what you will be paid, what you will have to buy, what perks are offered and when they kick in!
At one area I worked you started to get a pass for an immediate family member after your 5th year and an additional pass every second year.
At another area, there were no free passes, but they offered a "chit" that would get an immediate family member a ticket for $10. Now for me this wasn't a good deal because my race kid had to be on snow by eight and chits weren't issued till nine thirty or so.
"Down the road" I understand they offer the whole family passes just fifteen miles away.
Cafeteria .... yes we did get food half price. At one area, they had great stew, fried fish and a decent bowl of chili ...
At the other, the food was pretty bad ..
My point is .... there is no standard .... you have to sit down and find out the exact terms and then
.... some talented folks can negotiate their own terms. Hint .... a PSIA Level II or III has a lot more leverage when it comes to swinging a deal on conditions of employment.
Good luck ...
