An epic day at Sunshine
Having looked at the six day forecast at snow-forecast.com, I brilliantly planned to stay over Sunday night and ski on Monday as well. It was more than 25 centimeters, probably 35 by the time I got up there (a delay when a tractor trailer went off the access road and shut things down for 45 minutes). Mid-calf and knee-high powder on the main runs, I didn't even need to head for some of the stashes. The only down side was I had to head back to Calgary for afternoon meetings, so I couldn't stay later than 1:00, but by then my legs were baked anyway. It was snowing hard all day so tomorrow should be just as good. Have fun folks.
By the way, does anyone have the whole story on the fire at Goat's Eye Gardens? I noticed on Sunday that it was just a pile of rubble, and the folks down at base said it was caused by an electrical fault. The Gardens I can live without, but the lack of those washrooms means you will have to either return to the village or the base when nature calls (or create some yellow snow). I haven't been able to find anything on the fire in the media either.
