If I were you, I'd go in March. Prices are generally lower, which means you can go to one of the better but slightly more expensive places for the same price you pay for a second tier place during Christmas. Also, flights are likely to be less expensive in March.
Snow is 95% chance better in March than Christmas. Remember one thing, in Christmas, you're relying on good early season snow fall. By March, you have two chances: snow left over from Jan/Feb, AND fresh snowfall during March, which is frequent.
