What kind of layer to wear under speed suit

This will be my first year wearing a speed suit and I was wondering what do most of you wear under your suit? I usually wear a mid or light weight capilene but I have heard you get quite cold in the suits.

It is not that bad if you don't ride the lift a suit.

Whoops too quick there. I like AU Heat Geat and a cotton (nooooooooooooo!!!!!!!) turtleneck. I also wear a neoprene back brace that keeps my lower back and kids nice and toasty and loose.

Any tight fitting fleece product works fine. A neck gaiter on really cold nights feels pretty good.

If you are going to be outside training in a suit (versus just 2 x 30 second race runs then hit the bar), then a vest or training sweater and some training shorts would be a good idea.

The main thing is - drop the coat at the last min and suck it up for the run! Get your pals to run coats. Return the favor.

Anything that I can fit under it!

We have had many racers (and many in the WC) go for high compression base layer products under their race suits such as SKINS and to a lesser extent Under Armour and CWX for muscle stabilization. For warmth go with a quality base layer with some compression like ARKO, X-Bionic, Craft etc... but Smart Wool is nice as is Patagonia. You will still be cold! Get some training wear and a start coat and have your jacket shuttled to the finish for the next ride up.

I always found that this approach got me sweating while wearing my jacket which made me deathly cold when I took it off and restrained movement grotesquely... Now I wear Helly lifa stuff and a long sleeve Karbon active K-wick thing works great..

Just sayin

Does the same to me, restricts, I look at it as compression

When in the speed suit, my jacket is MIA the whole day, so no chance to sweat.

I like underarmor or similar compression stuff as a base layer and usually use another light weight wicking top as an additional layer

Also take an extra coat or fleece and leave it at the bottom. That way you can keep your coat on till the last couple of minutes at the start. Nothing worse than finding that the coat carrier is going down 10 minutes before your run and you end up freezing before you get in the gate

Hawaaaa???

Skiing the whole day in a suit sans coat is pretty much a "fashion don't", brudda.

Obscure reference. Can you identify it?
"Hawaaaa, Can you please bring me the standard child parent divorce forms."
