Heading to SLC last week in Feb. for 4 days of skiing plan on:

Alta/Bird - Thurs and Fri
Solitude/Brighton - Sat and Sun (smaller crowds vs others right?)

My question is about the Pioneer Ridge area and below at Brighton. According to the trailmap this is OB with various access gates, some halfway up the mountain. Have done Fantasy Ridge area at Solitude which was inbounds and required no beacon etc. Does the Pioneer area require beacon, shovel etc? Nothing mentioned on website so I assume it is not required. Was thinking on taking the Millicent chair and entering gate to skiers right of "scree".

I may be able to borrow the gear if needed but don't own it myself. (not much need for it at 7 springs PA). Does anyplace rent that gear if needed?

Also any description/opinion of that area would be welcomed.

BTW- Kastle site is finally up. Special place in my heart for Kastle. My first skis were Kastle RX "Champ". I thought Zirbriggen (sp?) and I had the same skis
