Hello, first post of the season. up here in fort mcmurray its been constant snow and I'm feeling the itch to go skiing. anyone have some input on the best spot to go for this week coming up? thinking either Marmot, louise, sunshine, fernie... any input from locals would be great! basically, is it even worth going yet? last years early season was incredible, is it even close this year? thanks for any advice!

Early Season Conditions

Check out the trip reports forum for exhaustive coverage of the Sunshine conditions. This is not last year so don't expect excellent conditions at the mountains that are open. That being said, it sounded like Marmot was in pretty good shape. Sunshine and Louise are definitely early season. Fernie won't be open for another couple of weeks. The one hill that has been getting dumped on is KH, but they weren't scheduled to open until Mid December. I believe there is some talk of early openings but you'll need to monitor their website. If you come, bring your rock skis or rent.

No snow in Fernie. Going skating on the clear frozen ponds.
