Boston Celtics 2007 juggernaut?

wow, way to steal a game at the buzzer!!!

11-1

This whole Boston sports scene thing is getting silly.....even the Bruins are showing some improvement.

Must be the dirty water:

I had no idea Garnett was this good.

and my Rhody Rams are 6-1 too

at 17-2 this is no fluke.

They are the team to beat in the east and I think the powerhouse western teams are even taking note. Magic Johnson is even happy to see it.

Besides the new big three, the bench has performed well, James Posey and Eddie House not to mention Big Baby Davis (who moves well for a big man - always thought that was a backhanded compliment .

Amazing how Doc has suddenly become a great coach?

Garnett is an incredible player...Former Celtic and ex-teamate of Larry Bird, Cedric Maxwell, created quite a stir when he said Garnett's the 2nd best player in Celtics history...behind Bill Russell. If Garnett can win a championship or two or three like Larry did I might begin to consider that notion but not until...

Big Baby is one of the all time great nicknames
post #4 of 116
yeah it's much easier to coach when you get a former MVP of the league on your team (or two) to compliment Pierce.

I did not see this game - was out for the count after a hard day at Stowe actually skiing (amazing to mention that on this forum I know

Apparently it was a great game, but tight.

I think you gotta take this as a good omen if they can stay with the Pistons at this point! Just gotta finish them off next time .

Kudos on your positive thinking

It was an exciting game and there's no reason to think the next one wouldn't turn out differently. As a Pistons fan who remembers a lot of heart breaking losses in the Garden my favorite moment was about a minute after the game was over, ESPN was interviewing Billups and the crowd was just shocked. Most of them were still in their seats just looking at the court in disbelief... like they were still expecting OT to start up in a couple of minutes. Good stuff..... but I gladly would have missed it to be making turns at Stowe:

27-3 - best start by Celtic team ever

Should be a good one on Saturday.

Garnett was immense last night. I've never seen someone as consistently intense as KG. What a joy he is to have out there and watch play!

You chowderheads got one last day to feel like you have the best team.... enjoy it. Cause you definitely ain't gonna enjoy coming to the Palace.

And by the time playoffs roll around, you guys aren't gonna like this dude too much either.

They won again last night (without Ray Allen) to be at 28-3, among the best starts ever! KG and Paul Pierce both scored 20+.

There've been a couple of stories about this but it's almost like the Celtics are bigger in the rest of the country than they are here right now (darned Patriots and Red Sox take all the headlines . Boston teams are 45-3 since game 4 of the ALCS in Cleveland. Amazing.

But it should be fun tonight - flipping back and forth with the football.

Last time in the Gaahhden the Pistons needed 9 threes to squeak out a 2 point victory to hand the Green one of their few losses. I'm pretty sure that ain't happening again! Although Detroit is playing well, I got a good feeling on this one.

Yeah, I've got a feeling the Piston's won't be needing those late 3's this time either....

Ah... the rare occasion for a self quote....

I guess we could have used a few of those late 3's this time....

Great game ... but an ugly game. Thing is, it's kind of like Colts/Patriots - the rest of the games against the league really pale in comparison.

Celts win it with help from this newcomer - Glen "Big Baby" Davis. Kind of one of those fat guys they say stuff like "he moves well for a big man". A left handed compliment. But also Pierce had a tremendous gutsy performance. If KG is the energy, Pierce is the grit of this team.

Great stuff - I won't say the Celts are there yet, but they are improving. Not sure if I can say that about the Pistons as they are a mature team. Imagine a 7 game series - it would be a fun one! Mar 5th is the next meeting between these two powerhouses ....

Yeah, good thing . Celts 90 Pistons 78. KG dominates.

See you in the post-season...

Yup, not a god night for the visitors. Looks like four games on the parquet is a good possibility.
It was funny - one of the commentators pregame completely predicted it. He called a 12 point game, a borderline blowout. The reason? Pistons got in @ 4AM yesterday so they were tired and couldn't sustain down the stretch.

Not an excuse by any means - it was still a good game nonetheless for most of the game.

It looks like Detroit will play Orlando and Boston will play Cleveland. I like Detroit's chances against Boston after a Celtics Cavs series. I think the Cavs are 3 and 2 against the Celts this year.
Worst spin scenario (for a Pistons fan): DPs are tanking because they don't want to play Cleveland.

Media spin: There's little chance of DPs changing their playoff ranking so they're deciding how little to play the starters and how much to experiment with different lineups and different plays/approaches.

It's clear though that the DPs wouldn't mind not playing the Cavs.

"Yeah, (Boston) can wrestle that bear, that's OK with us," Chauncey Billups said.

My spin: Much respect for LaBron.

LeBron and the bad karma from last year.

I don't think they can catch Boston and I don't think the Cavs will catch Orlando.

Now for the important stuff, Go Green, Go White.

They're going for 60 wins - greatest turnaround in the NBA ever!
They did it last night.

Magic number to clinch home court throughout the playoffs is 1!
The whole Eastern Conference thing is looking more interesting than it did two months ago. Celtics are only winning at home, LeBron looks more like Magic than Michael, and the Pistons win a playoff game w/out Billups....

My head says the Celts will lose and then win game 7 ... but my gut feel is they will eek this out tonight and move on.

As someone pointed out they are the only team thanks to their awesome regular season who don't have to win a game on the road to win it all ... but they probably should. Should be fun ....
